Samir Kayande has always been focused on building a resilient Alberta economy. He believes investing in critical economic infrastructure will make Alberta stronger.
Prior to being elected as the MLA for Calgary-Elbow and being named the NDP Deputy Assistant Whip and Official Opposition Critic for Finance (Fiscal Responsibility), Samir created software tools to help large institutions invest in energy, helped build a billion-dollar fossil fuel research company, and sat on the board of the Pembina Institute.
Originally from Fort McMurray, Samir has lived in Calgary since 2004 with his wife JJ, and their two children.

The AGM will feature a lively panel called “The Policy & Politics of Energy and Climate” with an environmental leader, a renewable energy executive, and possibly a third industry leader. It’ll be moderated by our very own Makenzie Mackay who is a sustainability professional. Our special guests will share their thoughts on the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition in Alberta.
It promises to be a lovely afternoon. Snacks included, naturally.
